The Four Components of the IELTS Test
Proficiency in the English language is tested in four areas: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. The test is divided into four parts and each of these areas gets tested separately. The Reading and writing test lasts for 60 minutes each, the Listening test is for 30 minutes with 10 minutes to transfer the answers to the Answer sheet and the Speaking test last for about 11-14 minutes. The Listening, Reading and Writing tests are done together in a single sitting while the speaking test may be done any time one week before or after the Listening, Reading and Writing- test.
