Students who wish to study abroad in countries like Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA, Europe etc are required to have a certain proficiency in the local language of the country which is English. Irrespective of which course they wish to pursue (Medicine, Engineering, Sciences, Arts, Commerce etc), they need to be good in English to a certain level. The proficiency in the English language is recognised if they have passed the test of English language conducted by recognised organisations.

British Council conducts The International English Langauge Testing System (IELTS). This is a test to verify the proficiency of a person in English language. This test is conducted across the globe and the result or the score obtained in this test is valid for entry to many countries for further studies. No university located in any of the English speaking countries accepts students who do not have an IELTS score.
